Where on Roatan to take a COVID-19 test that meets the requirements to travel or return to Canada from Roatan?
The Canadian government has changed their requirements to enter from an international destination once again. As of Jan 30th, the current requirement is that all travelers must have proof of a negative PCR Covid-19 test within 72 hours of boarding their flights. Please check the Canadian Health site for updates prior to your trip in case things change again.
The tests must be PCR. Antigen tests are not accepted. The antigen tests are available at several locations around Roatan. I recommend Wood’s Clinic in Coxen Hole. It is about a 15 minute taxi ride from West End. The tests are done daily with an appointment and the results are ready within 48 hours. The price is $200. There is another clinic nearby that offers an approved PCR test as well for $250 per person and the turn around time is usually within 36 hours. For the test, you need to bring a form of payment, preferably cash, and a copy of passport. These results are accepted by Canada as proof of a negative covid-19 test within 72 hours of travel. Please open the image below to see a complete list of testing facilities on island.
As part of our rental service, we can arrange transport to and from the testing clincs as well as make an appointment for your test. If you do not want to return to pick up your test results, we can print them for you to bring to the airport.
There are additional testing and quarantine requirements once you arrive in Canada. Please check the current requirements before your trip as they change frequently.
